KOA Lakeside FAQ

What is there to do at your campground?

There are a great many fun things to do at Lakeside KOA that are free for registered guests. Starting in May of 2014, the Recreation Center that was previously pay to play will also be free for all registered guests. We have a pool, a large playground, a jumping pillow, an inflatable castle, bumper boats, bikes, paddle boats, horseshoe pits, bolo shoes, volleyball, badminton, ring toss, outdoor shuffleboard (18 and older), a basketball hoop, a ten-acre catch-and-release fishing lake (no live bait), a small gym with a television, and a fitness trail. There is also a coin operated arcade and a pool table (coins are not provided). All facilities are for registered guests only.

I have some friends and family members in town. Can they come out to the campground to have dinner at my site?

As of May 1, 2014 all visitors going past the Main Office must be paid guests. Even if your visitors will only be staying at your site for a few minutes, and even if they will not be using any of the facilities, each person must pay the extra person fee of $10, which will entitle them to use all of the facilities. Parking will be provided for these visitors, but they will be unable to park at your site. Under no circumstances will visitors be allowed to bring pets onto the property. All visitors must depart the property by 9:00 PM.

Of course, if your visitors are just picking you up at the campground, you are welcome to meet them at the Main Office. The visitors will not be charged so long as they do not go past the Main Office.

What is check out time? When can I check in?

Check in time is 1:00 PM on RV and tent sites and 4:00 PM on all lodging. Check out time is 11:00 AM. We no longer allow late check outs between May 1 and September 30.

Can I bring my boat/raft/canoe/inner tube to use on your lake?

No. Outside water craft are not permitted on the lake. We have paddle boats that are free for all registered guests that you can use to go out on the lake. However, fishing is not allowed from these paddle boats.

Is it okay to swim or wade in the lake? Can I let my dog swim in the lake?

No. There are sharp rocks in the lake that could injure waders, swimmers, and pets. We have a swimming pool that you are welcome to use, though, which is open Memorial Day through Labor Day. Pets are not allowed in the pool or the pool area.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept all four major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover), debit cards that have the symbol of one of the four major credit cards, and cash. We do not accept travelers' checks, personal checks, or business checks.

Are pets allowed? Is there a fee?

Pets are welcome whether you are staying in an RV, a tent, or a cabin. The only exceptions are Rottweilers, Dobermans, and Pit Bulls, which our insurance carrier does not allow us to have on the property. Pets must be leashed/restrained at all times when they are outside. Colorado law specifies that leashes be no longer than six feet. Pets may not be left unattended or allowed to make noise that disturbs other guests (barking or whining). Pets may not be brought into public buildings or areas such as the pool area, the office, the bathrooms, the gym, the recreation center, the dock, or the playground. They may not swim in the lake. If you are in a cabin, cottage, or lodge, then there is a $10 per pet charge for those accommodations. If you have more than two pets in an RV or in a cabin, cottage, or lodge, there is an additional $10 charge for each pet beyond the first two. Special management approval is required for more than three dogs.

Please note that people who are visiting you at the campground may not bring their pets with them.

Can I pitch a tent for my kids at my RV site or cabin? Can I put more than one RV or tent on a site? What about screen rooms?

Tents of any size are never allowed at RV sites, cabins, cottages, or lodges.

Guests are only allowed one RV (travel trailer, fifth wheel, motor home, tent trailer or anything set up for people to live or sleep inside) per site. Additional RVs or tents of any kind (including tent trailers or any kind of sleeping arrangement) must be put on separate sites that must be paid for.

Please check with the Main Office if you would like to put up a floorless screen room. It needs to be staked in such a way so as not to cause damage to our sprinkler system.

If I'm not staying at the campground, can I pay to just come and use the showers/laundry room/pool/lake/playground/gym?

No. All facilities are for registered guests only.

Do I need a license to fish on your lake? What kinds of fish do you have?

The lake is on private property, and you do not need a license to fish on it. Please note that you may not keep the fish, and we ask that you use hooks without barbs so as not to harm the fish before you throw them back. Live bait is not permitted. Our lake contains Large Mouth Bass, Crappie, and Blue Gill.
